Wallilabou Bay on the leeward coast of St Vincent

Wallilabou Bay

Where Jack Sparrow came ashore

Wallilabou Bay, about 45 minutes’ drive up the leeward coast from Kingstown, is a steep-sided green cove that Disney turned into Port Royal for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). Jack Sparrow’s famous arrival — stepping off his sinking boat onto the dock — was filmed here.

Several of the set buildings survive around the jetty, alongside a small museum-style display of film memorabilia and a bar-restaurant. Yachts anchor in the bay, and a small waterfall and pool lie a short walk inland.

Top things to do: Wallilabou Bay

Walk the film set

The waterfront buildings, the dock and the gallows-style gateway are all recognisable. A small fee is charged to enter the set area; it is usually included on tours.

Swim and snorkel

The bay is calm and deep, with rocks and coral at the edges. The snorkelling around the headland is good.

Visit Wallilabou falls

A short way inland a little waterfall drops into a pool that is good for a cool-off.
